This Truly Matters campaign has become one of the most awarded communication campaigns in Croatia and the region, winning its third recognition this year, the prestigious European Communication Awards organized by Quadriga, Berlin’s Centre of Excellence in Education, Information, Networking and Business IT Solutions. In addition to winning the category of NGOs and organizations, the Association of Parents’ with Children with Disabilities Brački pupoljci and CTA komunikacije have won a special jury award for the best campaign among 350 finalists in 60 categories. Last year this, now multi-award-winning team, fought to amend the Law on Transport in Linear and Occasional Coastal Maritime Traffic, which finally enabled free ferry transport for children with disabilities from all Croatian islands to their much-needed onshore therapy.

The campaign Nešto zbilja važno or This Truly Matters, as it reads at European and world awards, won the umbrella Croatian award for public relations, the Grand Prix of the Croatian Public Relations Association (HUOJ) as the best project in the category of public relations in institutions, associations and non-governmental organizations in March this year, and in July it received the most prestigious global PR award “Golden World Awards for Excellence” of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) in the category of public relations for non-governmental organizations, thus becoming one of only a few campaigns in Croatia and the region that succeeded in this.

– From the very beginning, it has always been about our children and the possibility of their free transport to something they need, and that is therapy. We fought for this basic human right trying to reduce the costs, that for some families rise to the amount of an entire salary. Given the effort and change that took place unanimously in the Parliament, these awards are more than deserved. Thank you to everyone who helped, CTA komunikacije, our people from Brač, all other island associations, as well as everyone from various parts of Croatia who sent us their messages of support. This would not be possible without them – said Mirjana Nižetić, Brački pupoljci president.

Mate Mladina, Gina Victoria Damjanović, Gordan Turković, Petar Tanta, Valentina Mezdić and Eli Čerkezović worked alongside the parents from the Association on a 0 HRK budget.

– Every successful campaign is the result of a common goal and coordinated communication of all parties to the project, and the This Truly Matters is no exception. Our entire team internalized the struggle of the Brački pupoljci, they suddenly became our friends and neighbours, regardless of their office being in another part of Croatia. They were simply our inspiration. This is already the third award for this campaign, which can serve as an example to everyone that we, as a society, are very capable of positive changes that are appreciated at a national, European and global level. Also, we are particularly pleased that the jury composed of experts from the world’s leading companies awarded our campaign a special prize as best among this year’s finalists in all categories, in the competition of projects of much larger corporations, agencies and NGOs – said Gordan Turkovic – CTA komunikacije CEO.

We would like to stress that thanks to the ten-year-struggle of Brački pupoljci, and last year’s  This Truly Matters campaign, the right to free transport prescribed by law was granted for other neglected and vulnerable groups, too. Here is a short video of the campaign:

The European Excellence Awards was created to recognize the greatest achievements of communication professionals and to create a base of their success across Europe. Each year, the best campaigns in the areas of public relations, communications, image building or reputation management at the level of corporations, associations, counselling, public or educational institutions or non-governmental organizations are submitted. Strategy, innovation and creativity, campaign implementation and results and their effectiveness are evaluated, and this year the expert jury consisted of as many as 32 international experts from leading companies and agencies. Companies such as Audi, Levi’s, Lufthansa, the BBC, Samsung, Gazprom and Takeda competed for the title this year, and you can see the full list of winners here: https://www.excellence-awards.com/winnerlist/best-of-2020/.
