We are proud that for a second year in a row we have continued to participate in this praiseworthy project as a communication support.
Experts warn of worrying health data
Obesity, cardiovascular diseases, burnout, post-covid recovery, the health system and ageism were just some of the current health topics that contributed to the advancement and improvement of the health quality of all interested citizens.
The largest medical-communication event began this Saturday when we had the opportunity to listen to as many as six interesting panels. The summit was opened by the panel “Another part of me / Obesity, disease or not?” with the participation of Sanja Klobučar Majanović, Davor Miličić, Dinka Pavičić Baldani and Nataša Ban Toskić. Experts pointed out that patients verbalize their obesity extremely rarely and do not perceive it as a disease, and that a weight loss of 5 or 10% greatly reduces the chance of developing various diseases.
At the panel “Killing me softly / Health literacy against the silent killers of today – cardiovascular diseases and diabetes”, Ana Gongola, Kristina Selthofer-Relatić and Davorka Herman Mahečić discussedthese chronic non-communicable diseases, responsible for the death of 70% of the population on an annual basis.
– In an ideal world, people between the ages of 18 and 65 need 7 to 8 hours of sleep, the elderly a little less, and children 12 to 13 hours. Sleep continuity is very important for long-term health – this is the message of a young Croatian doctor from Harvard, Alen Juginović, who, together with Boris Filipović and Domagoj Vidović, participated in the panel “I can’t get no sleep / Insomnia – Why is quality sleep important?”.
The panel “In my place / Youth Health” where the largest problems of youth health today, such as mental and sexual health, obesity and eating disorders were highlighted, gathered among others, Boris Jokić and Dejan Nemčić. Branko Kolarić and Romana Galić with their colleagues presented their view of ageism at the panel “One Day Baby We’ll Be Old / Ageism” at the Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute.
– The employer must prevent stress and understand the mechanisms that can lead to burnout syndrome, from defining the role of employees, working hours, work organization, team atmosphere, to the corporate culture where we carry out a number of activities – said Irena Bašić Štefanić, Director of Human Resources at RBA Bank, from the perspective of corporate burnout syndrome along with colleagues Sandra Karabatić and Ana Puljak on the “I Can’t Help Myself – Burnout” panel.
Patients are the most important, but they must cooperate in the treatment
The second day of the Back Together Summit brought us six more educational discussions that could be followed online, with experts such as Goran Hauser, Pave Markoš and Antonija Oršulić, who spoke about the burning topic of gastroenterology at the panel “Gut Feeling / Microbiome”.
“One way or another / The role of dietary supplements in COVID-19 and post-covid recovery”, by Marija Bubaš, Alen Ružić and Darija Vranešić Bender, is also very worth mentioning, while at the panel “Circle of Life / Blue Circle of Care” with Davor Skeledžija, Tomislav Božek, Martina Anić and Martina Šepetavc we learned about the ways of treating diabetes through the health system.
– The health system must be concentrated around the patient and the health reform should be subject to that. It is high time for a general consensus of political structures and the profession – said the President of the Croatian Medical Chamber, Krešimir Luetić, at the panel “My First, My Last, My Everything – Health First” with Sani Pogorilić, Ljiljana Vukota and Ruža Ištuk.
How to choose the right one for yourself in the sea of cosmetics, treatments and beauty procedures was discussed at the panel “All That Beauty in The World – Life in the Sea of Beauty” with Valentina Vučičević and Igor Mikloušić.
– With the advent of non-surgical aesthetic medicine, a new world has been created on the verge of exaggeration. People often make caricatures of themselves, consequently casting a negative light on the entire profession – said aesthetic surgeon Siniša Glumičić, sided by his colleagues
With the last panel “Closer Than Close – Innovative Therapies”, we concluded the second Back Together Summit with a discussion on the progress of medicine in the field of surgical oncology together with panelists Nada Božina, Dragan Schwarz, Luka Novosel and Mladen Merćep.
All panels from the first and second day are available online and you can watch them at any time on the YouTube channel of the Back Together summit.
