As part of the CTA komunikacije team, Hana Kajari, a graduate student of Communication Studies at the University of Croatia, won the Golden World Awards for Excellence, the world’s largest PR award. Since this is an impressive achievement, Hana spoke to srednja.hr and revealed what campaigns brought her victory.

Hana Kajari, a 24-year-old graduate student of Communication Studies at the University of Croatia, won the world’s biggest PR award, the Golden World Awards for Excellence of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), as part of the CTA Communications team.

For those who do not know, the Golden World Awards for Excellence is one of the most important global awards in the field of public relations, and they have been awarded since 1990. Every year, the jury is made up of renowned world PR experts, and its importance is further demonstrated by the number and variety of applications that arrive each year

Tight competition

CTA komunikacije applied to the competition with two campaigns this year – ‘1100 kilometres for 1100 therapies’ and ‘Golden Ribbon – 7 marathons in 7 days’. The first, humanitarian campaign, won in the category of non-governmental organizations, while the second was awarded in the category of event organization.

– For both campaigns, in addition to regular activities related to public relations, I also participated in the design of entire communication strategies. Given that they were fund raisers and that their goal was to help those whose voices are not heard enough, I had great motivation when working on them, although it was quite challenging to match everything with regular university tasks– explains Hana.

including Nestle, A1, Lego, Microsoft and many others have stood out as winners. That is why she is so proud that the projects she has worked on have been awarded, but she does not hide the fact that it took a lot of work and effort to achieve this success.

She gained most of her knowledge working as a trainee

It is safe to say that Hana, at the age of 24, is good at what she does. However, she revealed to us that at the end of high school, she did not have an exact vision of what she wanted to study and where she saw herself in the next few years.

– I knew that I loved social sciences and communication with people, so I decided to study sociology and communication as double majors. I fell in love with sociology in high school, and I knew very little about communication studies, and it was only at college that I practically got acquainted with this branch and the opportunities it offers – said Hana.

However, she gained most of the knowledge she currently during internship and at CTA komunikacije, where she works as a communication assistant. Her colleagues immediately “threw her into the fire” and this helped her gain large amounts of knowledge quickly. The award-winning campaigns were her first experience with serious management and work on communication campaigns, and she says that they will stay especially dear to her forever.

Experience is very important

After graduation, Hana wants to stay working at CTA communications. She likes agency work very much because it is dynamic and every day is completely different. She also praises her colleagues, who she says have a positive effect on her productivity and coping with stressful situations, and have her back when necessary. In addition, one day she would like to take up photography more seriously, so this autumn she is enrolling in a study program that will help her with that.

– I would definitely recommend to all students who want to deal with communications and public relations to go on an internship during their studies because, unfortunately, there is a lack of practical subjects in most of the studies of communication and public relations in Zagreb. That is why you need to take matters into your own hands, acquire additional knowledge as soon as possible and become qualified for a future job – says Hana.

She adds that process is not easy. She herself was confused at the beginning and did not know much about the industry or the ways of doing the job. However, she says that everything can be solved with the help of quality mentors and motivation. Finally, Hana notes that public relations is much more than creating communication strategies for an individual client, and the proof of this are the two award-winning charity campaigns that have left a lasting mark on other people.
